Sterling Group follows the objectives of the Code and seeks to achieve the widespread acceptance of it amongst all employees.
The employees should raise the following ethical issues with their immediate supervisor or another senior colleague, if appropriate, irrespective of whether they are explicitly addressed in the Code:
- Violation of any company rule or any action that is detrimental to the company’s efforts to operate profitably;
- Violation of security and health, safety and environmental rules or failure to observe rules of the company’s safety practices;
- Being intoxicated or under influence of controlled substance while at work; use, possession or sale of controlled substance in any quantity while on company’s premises, except medications prescribed by a physician which do not impair work performance;
- unauthorized possession of dangerous or illegal firearms, weapons or explosives on company’s property or while on duty;
- insubordination or refusal to obey instructions properly issued by the management pertaining to work or refusal to help out on a special assignment;
- threatening or intimidation of fellow employees on or off the premises at any time, for any purpose;
- Theft or unauthorized possession of the company’s property or the property of fellow employees; engagement in an act of sabotage; causing destruction or damage to the company’s property or the property of fellow employees, customers, suppliers, or visitors in any manner;
- Dishonesty, falsification or misrepresentation on the application for employment or other work records; lying about sick or personal leaves;
- Spread of malicious gossip and rumors; engagement in behavior which creates discord and lack of harmony; interference with another employee while at work; restriction of work output or encouragement of others to do the same;
- Unsatisfactory or careless work or failure to meet quality standards as required;
- Any act of sexual, racial or other harassment; talking sexist or racist jokes; bringing racial or ethnic slurs on other employees;
- Leaving work before the end of a workday; unavailability to work at the start of a workday without approval of the management; stopping work before time specified for such purposes;
- Sleeping or loitering during working hours;
- Being completely against any corruption deals and conversation.
